I first met Marlene in 1982 when I started working at Birmingham Rep. I remember the mischief we got up to sometimes, including putting an ice cream spoon in Yorick's skull before the last matinee of a Hamlet production. Another time an actor was locked in the band room while Marlene and I were on our break, he had managed to get the grill off the bottom of the door and had his head and shoulders through it and this in full elizabethan costume. I was helpless with laughter but Marlene whizzed round to stage door in her stilettos to get the key!! I remember her love of fashion, always on trend, music, parties and dancing and her knowledge of West Midlands bus timetables was legendary! So ,dear Marlene, rest in peace, your suffering is over.xx
